Yesterday my parents arrived back from a trip to the Netherlands bringing me back two bouquets of tulips.....yes.....tulips :) and the British Vogue. So this morning I had the perfect combination of an espresso, tulips and vogue. Such a delight.

(Oh and my mom brought some tulips bulbs. Lets see if tulips are able to grow in the Caribbean; will keep you posted on this one)

Over the weekend we came across, what will surely be, an amazing, adventure-filled journey (not simply a trip and most probably not a vacation (in the relaxing sense of the word); but a journey, one filled with new destinations, uncharted territories, patience and new skills (yet to be acquired). This trip will be in a few years (loads of planning goes into this), but it so consumed our fantasies this weekend, I thought I would have to share a piece of it. (hopefully it will become a reality), for now....just a few wonderful images of gorgeous travel pieces.

Good morning lovelies, I hope you woke up to a beautiful Friday morning (here there was a bit of rain storm....but it has calmed down now). This weekend there is carnival on the island. I must admit that I am not a avid carnival participant nor viewer. Thus I will spend the coming days lounging away on the boat and  having brunch with the girls on Sunday. Simply divine.

Valentines Day is known for its loveliness, its passion, its kindness. 

I've always had an admiration for old love letters. 

And valentines day is an wonderful opportunity to add some of these to the House of Tulips.

Whether it is Shakespeare's sonnets of Romeo and Juliet, the love letters of Napoleon to Josephine or Beethoven's words to his "immortal beloved". 

Another beautiful example of this are those written by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Sonnets of the Portuguese, to her husband Robert Browning.  One of her most famous poems is "How do I love thee"

Every week-day morning I drive (in my tiny car) from the East side of the island, over the Juliana Bridge to Otrabanda (this sounds far...but really its a 18 min drive.....with traffic). Otrabanda is part of the historic centre of Curacao. The streets are filled with beautiful momuments, most of them restored to their original state.

This is the building I work in. Last year the renovations were finalized.

It is such a wonderful building to work in. Beautiful on the outside, modern on the inside; splendid all-around.

As some of you might know my photography-skills are not quite as wonderful as I would like them to be (class will be taken to improve this). But, I can't resist sharing these images with you.

Almost every Saturday and Sunday we make our way to the boat, cruise the Spanish Waters and head to Barbara Beach. This Sunday, we had a visitor. The Pelican. There he was, lounging away on the deck, soaking in the sun. (Mind you, he didn't move till we were almost ready to leave). Such a funny sight to see.

(Let's hope he is just a visitor and not a permanent resident.....this is an odor related matter).

Loving these images

They often say 'time flies when you are having fun', well based on that I am probably having a blast.

Usually the days seem to pass by this quickly when I am on vacation. Which is great considering how wonderful all these days are. (Less great of course that they fly by.....some times you just want to stand still a little longer and savour the moments). So I will try to do a little more of that this weekend, no running around (even for all fun and exciting stuff) but just enjoying each moment.
