This weekend I am happily flying to NYC to visit Miss V, just to relax in a warm café drinking cappuccinos and enjoying the feel of winter for 3 days (that is most probably the most of winter I can handle). Now what to pack? Of course the cute little gloves, black stockings, the camel coat and my chic grey LV boats. Ohh, tis the season to dress up for winter J

After a week and a half of wearing all my lovely ballerina flats to work, I am happy that starting Monday things will be completely back to normal and I can wear my beloved high heels again. Though, the flats did add a touch of sweetness to most of my dresses, I am still convinced that the heels give something no other type of shoe can.

It is always interesting to see how a day progresses very differently than you had previously anticipated. On this dark, cloudy Sunday, with the winds turned and the roads still damp, there were a few small surprises that made for quite an interesting day. There was of course loads of food, a talked-about nap, a funny little turquoise book, a touch of sheer and many laughs.

We walked up the candlelit stairs to the back porch of the house, where we were transported to the fantastic world of the Merlot grapes. The old met the new as we traveled from the flavours of New Zeeland, to the penetrating tastes of Italy, to the depth of Argentina only to agree (somewhat) that the history embedded in Provence grapes was truly the best of the Merlots. As the night grew darker, the array of wines were tasted (no spitting here though), our conversations became lighter and our laughter (much) louder. It is always impressive how we are continuously able to spend hours on end with a group of friends and still be surprised occasionally (only sweet and pretty things of course...... well, maybe some Gladiators were thrown in). May your next wine tasting be as spectacular as the one we had last night.

Tonight a friend of mine is organizing a wine and cheese evening at her home.

(lucky me, she lives two houses down the road)

There was only one request: "wear something with flowers"

We are lucky enough to live on an island were hurricanes do not often float by, were the pulls and pushes of nature often save us from the hard destruction of what the rest of the Caribbean must endure. Yesterday however, part of a rare November hurricane hit the island and flooded most of it. Today, as the skies are still dark, the roads still wet and the rain still drizzling, we look forward to the sounds of sunshine.
